As Ernie Harwell says, “It’s time to say goodbye, but I think goodbyes are sad and I’d much rather say hello. Hello to a new adventure.”

There will be a new face on Main Street and in the newspaper! My tenure as the MainStreet director has come to a close, but it is with the utmost of gratitude and love in my heart that I say goodbye.

I have been privileged to fill the role of director for almost seven years, and it is with great conviction when I say it has been an honor to work with Artesia MainStreet board members, committee members and volunteers. It has also been an honor to work with the organizations here in Artesia and across the state, as well as city and state officials and employees, downtown businesses, and community members.

I have witnessed firsthand how special the City of Artesia is and feel extremely blessed to have been involved in with such a worthy organization like Artesia MainStreet.

I recently came across a photo on Facebook that said I wish I was filled with tacos instead of emotions… which is a very appropriate saying, because I am overwhelmed with emotions from my time spent here! I have made the very best of friends and have gained a wealth of knowledge from my colleagues with MainStreet and the other organizations we work closely with.

I will take with me the most amazing memories from my time in Artesia as I leave to pursue a graduate degree.

“Thank you” feels superfluous at this point, but I will say it again… Thank you from the bottom of my heart, and when I visit Artesia next, please say hello!
