Officers with the Artesia Police Department made an arrest Tuesday for an aggravated battery that occurred in September 2016.
An assault in progress call just after 4 p.m. Sept. 8, 2016, to the Allsup’s at 1600 N. First St. led police to a woman with visible injuries above her left eye.
The victim told officers a known individual, identified as Kenneth Samora, had struck her with a metal bar.
The victim was escorted back to the residence in the 200 block of Gage Avenue she shared with Samora to retrieve her belongings and vehicle. She told officers she had arrived to the home around 4 p.m., at which time Samora began yelling at her. After kicking and hitting the side of her car, the report states, he struck her in the face. She then fled to the Allsup’s and called 911.
At the home, officers observed dents in the victim’s vehicle consistent with having been made with a foot or knee.
A warrant was subsequently issued for Samora’s arrest on charges of aggravated battery upon a household member and criminal damage to property of a household member (under $1,000).
Samora, 37, was taken into custody Tuesday on those charges and a municipal warrant for failure to pay fines.
