9-13-Proc-ConstitutionWeekMembers of the Mary Griggs Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, from left, Miriam Archibald, regent, Jeannine Null, secretary, and Mary Kay McCollum, treasurer, join Mayor Phillip Burch as he proclaims Sept. 17-23 as Constitution Week in Artesia. Sept. 17 will mark the 228th anniversary of the drafting of the United States Constitution. As such, the proclamation states, it is fitting and proper to recognize “this magnificent document” and “the patriotic celebrations which will commemorate the occasion.” Burch asks the citizens of Artesia “to reaffirm the ideals the framers of the Constitution had in 1787.”
