A gathering of family and friends will be held at 4 p.m. Wednesday, March 30, at the family home for Miguel Ruiz of Artesia.
Ruiz, 58, passed away Monday, March 28, 2016, at Artesia General Hospital.
Cremation has taken place under the direction of Terpening & Son Mortuary.
Miguel was born April 1, 1957, in Artesia, the son of Jose and Albesa (Contreras) Ruiz. He was a lifelong resident of Artesia.
On July 9, 1977, he married Maria Rodriguez in Artesia.
Miguel was a sales representative in the oilfield and also served in the Army National Guard Reserves.
Survivors include his wife, Maria, of the family home; son Nicholas Ruiz of Las Cruces; daughter Biveca Herrera of Artesia; brother Lonnie Ruiz of Artesia; sisters Hortencia Molinar, Esther Gabaldon and Jane Chavarria, all of Artesia, Diana Ruiz of La Grange, Texas, and Ellie Romero of Odessa, Texas; and grandchildren Artesia Ruiz, Maleki Herrera and Zoey Herrera.
