Artesia Municipal Court is offering amnesty to individuals currently wanted on bench warrants through the end of next month.
Those interested must contact the court from 7:30 a.m. – 4 p.m., Monday through Thursday, now through March 30.
Amnesty gives an individual wanted on a bench warrant the opportunity to appear in court to address the charges without the fear of being arrested and levied additional charges for contempt of court, failure to pay fines and fees.
Listed below are the names of individuals who have either failed to appear for citations, criminal summons and/or trial, or who have failed to pay fines at the municipal court in Artesia. The bench warrants have been issued pursuant to Municipal Court Rule 8206A.
Anyone on this list may be arrested and jailed at any time without further notice. Anyone failing to appear for a traffic citation (violation) may also have had their driver’s license suspended, pursuant to Section 66530, NMSA 1978.
Individuals who have failed to pay fines owed to the court may also have any state income tax refund owed to them intercepted by the court and credited to the outstanding debt, pursuant to the Tax Refund Intercept Program, Section 72C1 through 14, NMSA 1978, or they may be referred to a private collection agency for further action.
Individuals whose names appear on the list below should contact the Artesia Municipal Court, 3300 W. Main St., Ste. A, either in person or by telephone at 746-9401, during the hours and dates listed above.
In order to resolve warrants for failure to pay fines, payment is required in full unless other court-approved arrangements are made. The court accepts cash, money orders, cashier’s checks, and debit or credit cards. No personal checks are accepted as payment for warrants for failure to pay fines.
To pay online with a debit or credit card, contact the court directly at the number listed above. Individuals must be in compliance with any other municipal court-imposed conditions.
Bench warrants for failure to appear require an appearance before the municipal judge. Warrants for arrest and for failure to comply are not part of this amnesty program.
