Artesia MainStreet’s Rebecca Prendergrast and architect Jose Zelaya presented plans for the renovation of Baish Memorial Park during the city council meeting Tuesday night.

Plans for the renovation of the park, located in front of City Hall on Texas Avenue, have been underway since 2008 and are in combination with other renovations on Texas Avenue as well as the proposed City Hall annex building.

“It will be a total renovation of the park,” Prendergrast said  Wednesday. “We are including a memorial wall with the names of the veterans of Eddy County.”

The renovated park will also include the Freedom’s Fire statue, a monumental bronze facilitated by Artesia businessman Mike Deans. … For the rest of the story, subscribe in print and on the web.
