The Pecos Valley Baptist Association invites all senior adults in southeastern New Mexico to an “Old McDonald had a Farm” senior adult event Tuesday, Sept. 19.
Put on your overalls and straw hat and head to the First Baptist Church Total Life Center, corner of Roselawn and Richardson avenues, at 10 a.m. to enjoy a program that is sure to inspire, entertain and inform.
The highly-anticipated senior adult event this fall is sure to be one you won’t want to miss! Donations will be received at the registration table to help with the cost of lunch.
You can expect plenty of fun and fellowship during the event. There will a musical performance by the Senior Adult Choir from First Baptist Church in Lubbock, Texas, and Wayne Brazil, New Mexico native and Southern Baptist pastor for 40 years, will be speaking. There’s even more to look forward to, so come prepared to have a memorable day!
Brazil was raised on a ranch near Mountainair, N.M. He is married to Naomi, and they have four children and two grandchildren. Brazil was ordained at First Baptist Church in Mountainair. He attended the University of New Mexico and received a bachelor’s degree in studio fine arts. He went on to graduate from Golden Gate Baptist Theological Seminary with a Master of Divinity.
Brazil has pastored Southern Baptist churches for the past 40 years. At this time, he supply preaches as well as preaches revivals, and is also chaplain at the Lea County Correctional Facility in Hobbs. He has served there for 11 years and supervises a “faith-based” unit of 60 men and a core of 80 prison volunteers who come from Eddy, Chaves and Lea counties.
Brazil’s philosophy of ministry comes from being raised on a ranch and his love for the land and livestock. The values of the ranching lifestyle were instilled in him by his parents and have shaped his approach to ministry. Brazil has centered his ministry on rural communities and churches, and enjoys the personal relationships that he has built in those small communities.
The Senior Adult Choir from Lubbock is a group of about 40 senior adults who love the Lord and share their love for Him though song. They will be sharing some of their favorite tunes “Hee-Haw” style.
All senior adults are invited to come together for fun, fellowship and food. Donations will be taken at the door to help cover the cost of the delicious meal of fried chicken, mashed potatoes, green been, rolls, and dessert prepared by the Artesia West Main Baptist kitchen crew.
