Below, Trampas Spence, stock contractor, speaks to the assembled students and faculty about the AHS rodeo program. The team will host its home high school rodeo beginning at 9 a.m. Saturday and 8 a.m. Sunday at the Artesia Horse Council Arena, featuring competitors from throughout the state. The AHS athletes will also be at Henry’s BBQ tonight waiting tables for tips to help defray travel costs. All drinks will be free for out-of-town rodeo contestants plus free dessert with their back number; a free dessert or root beer float is available to fourth-graders who attended today’s exhibition with their autographed photo; and root beer floats are free to the public between 6 and 7 p.m. on the patio with the rodeo team.
