Alleged driver arrested on vehicular manslaughter, DWI charges

A single vehicle rollover accident that occurred East of Cloudcroft Tuesday morning left an Artesia woman deceased and an Artesia man facing multiple charges, including vehicular manslaughter.

Alexandro Salinas, 28, of Artesia, is charged with vehicular manslaughter, driving under the influence of intoxicating drugs or alcohol and driving on a suspended/revoked license following an accident that claimed the life of Stephanie Dowing, 26, of Artesia.

According to a State Police report, a vehicle driven by Salinas was traveling westbound on U.S. 82 just before 3 a.m., Tuesday, when it left the roadway near mile-marker 21, hit a hillside and overturned. Dowing was apparently ejected from the vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident. … For the rest of the story, subscribe in print and on the web.
