According to the proclamation, Smokin’ on the Pecos will be a two-day event sanctioned by the Kansas City Barbeque Society and the Rocky Mountain Barbeque Association. Taking place on June 29- 30 at the Eddy County Fairgrounds, the annual event will include a craft show, a Cowboy Mounted Shooters’ New Mexico Centennial Shootout, a roughstock challenge, mini-rodeo and open bull riding competition. The Grand Champion of Smokin’ on the Pecos will receive an invitation to the American Royal Barbeque Cookoff in Kansas City.
