U.S. Navy pilots are once again utilizing the “perfect” weather conditions in Artesia to conduct their primary flight-training exercises. The planes in the sky over Artesia will continue to be seen (and heard) into March. As reported in the Daily Press Jan. 26, 2014, the first year training was conducted here, “The Navy wants to take advantage of better weather during the winter months so that the Training Air Wing can keep up the necessary number of flight hours to train its student aviators.”
