Services are scheduled for 9:30 a.m. Monday, July 25, at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church for Tony Armendariz of Artesia.

Armendariz, 65, passed away Wednesday, July 20, 2016, at his home.

Fr. Martin Cornejo, OFM, will officiate at the services, with interment to follow at Woodbine Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Frank Sierra, Gerald Armendariz, Audencio Losoya, Raul Ortega, Jonathan Perez and Bobby Armendariz.

Visitation will be held from 2-4 p.m. Sunday at Terpening & Son Mortuary. A rosary will be recited at 6:30 p.m. Sunday at Our Lady of Grace.

Tony was born Feb. 7, 1951, in Carlsbad, the son of Antonio L. and Esmera (Mata) Armendariz.

On Nov. 7, 1970, he married Grace Martinez in Roswell, and the couple came to Artesia in 1976 from Roswell.

He served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War.

Tony was a diesel mechanic who retired from Navajo Refining Co. and a member of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church and Cursillistas. He was a musician who played bass, drums, keyboard and saxophone. He was involved with Espiritu Santo Choir and especially loved Tejano music.

Tony was a very giving person. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren on Family Sunday Fundays.

Survivors include his wife, Grace Armendariz, of Artesia; son Antonio Alex Armendariz of Artesia; daughters Rosemary Losoya and husband Audencio of Artesia, Shelia Leyba of Lubbock, Texas, and Diane Armendariz of Artesia; brothers Tommy Armendariz of Grants, Gerald Armendariz of Florida, Bobby Armendariz, Lonnie Armendariz and Charles Armendariz, all of Roswell, and Larry Armendariz of Las Vegas, Nev.; sisters Rachel Sanchez of Dexter and Liz Armendariz of Roswell; grandchildren Krystal Franco, Brittney Franco and husband Johnathan Perez, Victoria Leyba and Diego Sierra; and great-grandchildren Xavier, Jaedyn, Dez and Ivy.

He was preceded in death by his parents and sisters Rosemary Armendariz and Christina Baeza.
