HB33, better known as the 5 Mill Levy, passed in Artesia Tuesday with 92-percent approval.

A total of 378 voters turned out for the election, with 347 voting for the bill and 31 against.

“I am extremely pleased for the district and the students that Artesians chose to support our schools,” Dr. Crit Caton, Artesia Public Schools superintendent, said today.

The levy, which will not raise taxes, will be used by the APS to help upgrade and maintain existing facilities as well as improve technology and campus energy efficiency.

Carlsbad also passed the 5 Mill Levy Tuesday with a 77-percent turnout. Of the 408 voters who cast a ballot, 316 voted for the levy.
