ARTESIA — The Artesia City Council at their meeting on July 24, approved the awarding of the West Richey Avenue Pavement Rehabilitation Project to Constructors, Inc. of Carlsbad.

The $1,073,330 pavement rehabilitation project is from 26th Street to 4th Street for a length of 1.7 miles. It consists of milling 2 ½ inches of asphalt paving and replacing it with 2 ½ inches of pavement. There is also some minor pavement reconstruction work around existing manholes and utility work.

It is anticipated work will begin within the next 30 to 45 days. The contract allows for 100 calendar days to complete the project. During construction, one lane of traffic will be open in each direction.

Occam EC Consulting Engineers, Inc. in Roswell designed the project and will provide construction management for the project.
