Services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Friday, April 12, at Terpening & Son Chapel for Julia Renee Bussa of Artesia.

Bussa, 70, passed away Saturday, April 6, 2024, in Artesia.

Lonnie Owens and Rick Sullivan will officiate the services, with cremation to follow under the direction of Terpening & Son Mortuary. Honorary pallbearers are Matt Carr, John Yates Jr., Jim Townsend, Lonnie Owens, Junior Cano and Richard Rubio.
Visitation will be held from 2-6 p.m. Thursday, April 11, at Terpening & Son Mortuary.

Renee was born July 22, 1953, in San Antonio, Texas, the daughter of Vernie G. and Reba (McCormick) Bussa.

She was very connected to the Artesia community and was known as the “Card Lady,” sending out cards to many people for birthdays, anniversaries and special events. She spent a lot of time praying for people and knitting items for the community and the Samaritan’s Purse Operation Christmas Child.

She was also a member of the Artesia Story League and sang in the First Baptist Church choir for many years.

Survivors include her twin sister, Tanya Bussa; two nieces; one nephew; and several cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents and brother Vernie G. Bussa Jr.
