Services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Saturday, April 13, at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church for Mercedes “Mercy” Loya.

Loya, 86, passed away Saturday, April 6, 2024, at Mission Arch Center in Roswell.
Interment will follow the services at the Upper Hope Cemetery. Pallbearers will be her grandsons. Honorary pallbearers will be Nay Griffith, Chris Romero, Herik Loya, Joe Juarez, and Rito and Javier Terrazas.

Visitation will be held from 2-6 p.m. Friday, April 12, at Terpening & Son Mortuary. A rosary will be recited at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at Our Lady of Grace.

Mercy was born March 15, 1938, in Chihuahua, Mexico.

On Aug. 9, 1952, she married Raymond Loya in Chihuahua.

She came to Hope in 1960. She was a wife and homemaker.

Survivors include daughter Elva Griffith and Nay of Hagerman; grandchildren George Martinez and Michelle, Tammy Romero and Chris, Sammy Loya, Eddie Loya, Oscar Loya and Dulce, Melissa Bennett, Chelsey Wren, Joseph Juarez and Melissa, and Heather Juarez; 13 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond; sons Oscar Loya, Eli Loya and Edmond Loya; daughter Alice Loya Martinez; and great-grandson Jeremy Hatfield.

The family wishes to express its thanks to the Mission Arch Center memory care staff and the Gentiva Hospice staff for their extraordinary care.
