Parents warned of dangers of leaving children in hot vehicles

ARTESIA -- As the summer months approach, the Artesia Police Department has announced that it will continue to accomplish special assignments, concentrated patrols and sobriety checkpoints designed to keep impaired drivers off the roads during the month of June. “We ask for the motoring public to make good decisions even before climbing behind the wheel of an automobile after having consumed alcoholic beverages,” said APD Sgt. Chris Gallegos. APD officers will be on the lookout for crimes such as DWI, open container, seatbelt violations and texting while driving.
