It must be fall, because we have gotten a lot of phone calls asking about the Artesia Historical Museum’s annual Artesia Quilters Guild exhibit!
The good news is that YES, their 17th annual show is currently on display at the Artesia Historical Museum and Art Center now through Sept. 29 during regular museum hours: 9 a.m. – noon and 1-5 p.m. Tuesday through Friday, and 1-5 p.m. Saturdays.
As always, this year’s show features all-new, never-before-exhibited works created by Guild members. Artesia Quilters Guild members have a reputation for creating unusual works — even traditional patterns and designs are given a fresh twist through non-traditional fabrics and techniques.
This year, Guild members experimented with stained glass quilts, and they are gorgeous! There are also a couple of optical illusion designs and lots of nifty small projects: pillows, table runners, pincushions, glasses and scissors cases, microwave cozies, and even a postcard — which just goes to show that just about anything can be quilted!
We hope you’ll all have a chance to view this year’s show while it’s on display. See you soon! Large groups are encouraged to call ahead, and we can accommodate after-hours tours by appointment as well: 575-748-2390.
