An airport hangar fire resulted in the death of a 29-year-old Artesia man on Monday.

According to the Artesia Police Department, Joe Perez Moreno III was working at an unoccupied hangar, owned by the City of Artesia, at the Artesia Municipal Airport.

Moreno, the only person believed to be present during the blaze, was apparently using a tool to cut metal when sparks caught a type of highly flammable insulation on fire. … For the rest of the story, subscribe in print and on the web.
