Artesia’s veterans will receive special recognition from the city’s third graders this week.

At 9:30 a.m., Thursday, Nov. 11, students will perform in the third annual Veteran’s Day program.

The program, which is put on jointly by Artesia Public Schools and the City of Artesia, is scheduled to take place at the Artesia High School Auditorium.

Students from five elementary schools will perform a patriotic set which will include the Star Spangled Banner, My Country ‘Tis of Thee (America), Grand Ol’ Flag, Armed Forces Medley, Bless Our Troops and America, The Beautiful.

“The music teachers work hard to use music to teach other parts of our curriculum,” Danny Parker, Yeso Elementary principal said on Friday. “In this case, they use music to teach the importance of what our soldiers do for us to protect our freedoms and the American way of life.” … For the rest of the story, subscribe in print and on the web.
