Students on the Artesia High School rodeo team will not have far to travel to perform this weekend.
The team began with an exhibition rodeo for Artesia Public Schools’ fourth-graders at 9 a.m. today at the Eddy County Fairgrounds covered arena. The fourth-graders were able to watch the team compete in various events, followed by a question-and-answer session.
The first performance of the sanctioned high-school rodeo will begin at 9 a.m. Saturday, followed by church services immediately after its completion. The Artesia High School cheerleaders will host a dance Saturday night at the fairgrounds. The second performance will begin at 8 a.m. Sunday.
A concession stand will be open during the rodeo, admission is free, and spectators are encouraged to come support the State Champion AHS rodeo team.
