Artesia motorists rejoice; for the first time in more than four years, the entirety of 13th Street is open to traffic. The City of Artesia announced this morning via the 13th Street Reconstruction Project Facebook page that AUI and Smith Engineering had completed Phase 4 of the project, which had seen the portion of 13th from the Clayton Avenue intersection to the alleyway just south of Hermosa closed since June 19. The comprehensive project, centered around updating the city’s aging infrastructure, began Oct. 15, 2013, on North 13th. Many Artesians took to social media today to celebrate its end.
