Decision further hinders city’s annexation plan

The Eddy County Board of Commissioners voted against the transfer of county roads to the City of Artesia for the second time Tuesday morning.
Commissioners voted 3-2 against the resolution to transfer the roads, citing concerns that the subsequent annexation was not in the best interest of the landowners.
The City of Artesia originally sought control of the county roads in early November as part of their efforts to annex the adjacent properties.
