Services were held at 11 a.m. today at the Markle Church of Christ in Markle, Ind., for Dr. Max E. Wilson of Warren, Ind.

Wilson, 89, passed away Thursday evening, July 7, 2016, at the Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne, Ind.

Interment will take place at a later date at the Prospect Cemetery of rural Uniondale, Ind.

Max was born Feb. 18, 1927, in Wells County, Ind., the son of Charles A. and Margaret R. (Hatfield) Wilson.

On May 20, 1951, he was united in marriage to Babe Latheta Eichhorn, who preceded him in death. He later married Jeanne Roe on Dec. 23, 1995.

Max was a chiropractor in Bluffton, Ind., from 1952-77 and also practiced in Artesia from 1977-95. He was a 1945 graduate of East Union High School in Wells County and a 1952 graduate of the O’Neill Chiropractic College. He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving overseas during the Korean War from 1952-54.

He was a member of the Markle Church of Christ and past elder of the 1stChurch of Christ in Bluffton and Valley Christian Church in Artesia. He taught Sunday School over the years and was a trustee for the Artesia Christian College from 1977-86.

Max was a former member of the International Chiropractors Association and the International Chiropractors Association of Indiana, and was a former member of the Lions Clubs of Bluffton and Artesia, and a member of the Markle VFW. He enjoyed working with stained glass and went on three expeditions to Mt. Ararat in 1981 and 1983 in search of Noah’s Ark. In later years, he and his wife Jeanne entertained for four years at the former Bear Creek Farms.

Survivors include his wife, Jeanne Wilson; three sons, Jonathan Wilson of Artesia, Jacob Wilson and wife Rebekah of Mt. Pulaski, Ill., and Dr. Jeffrey Wilson of Cabo Roja, Puerto Rico; daughter Dr. Jennifer Wilkin and husband Dr. Robert of Huntington, Ind.; stepsons Barry Grant and wife Missy of Warren and Kevin Grant and wife Maryalice of Ossian, Ind.; sister Nancy Johnson and husband Gerald of Bluffton; grandchildren Victoria Wilson, Suzy Wilson Adams, Jonathan Wilson, Izaak Wilson, Rachel Wilson Bellows, Michael Grant, Amy NezBagay, Mindy Arnold and Holly Hart; and 16 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by five sisters, Janet Cooper, Magdaline Crum, Betty Blew, Phyllis Confer and Agnes Baker; and four brothers, Robert Wilson, Dick Wilson, Everett Wilson and Philip Wilson.

Max supported missions with his life.
