Services were held Monday, May 8, at Bethel Assembly of God Church in Hobbs for Elias “Lee” Doporto of Hobbs.
Doporto, 80, passed away Thursday, May 4, 2017, in Roswell.
He was born Dec. 5, 1936, in Loving to Jose and Esperanza Doporto.
On Nov. 16, 1958, Lee and Tomasita were married in Artesia, and the couple had resided in Hobbs since 1996.
Lee retired from Amoco Production Co. in Artesia after more than 25 years of service. He started his second career at the Other Store for E.L. Martin, where he sold boots and enjoyed meeting new friends. He also enjoyed fishing.
Survivors include his wife, Tomasita, of Roswell; daughter Dianna Cordero and husband Gilbert of Roswell; son Michael Doporto and wife Brenda of Hobbs; Angela Gamboa and husband Art of Albuquerque, whom he loved like a daughter; brothers Joe, Ernest, Edward, Eliseo and Eloy Doporto; sisters Lorina Flores and Lucinda Sanchez; five grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Leonor Sosa.
Arrangements were under the direction of Chapel of Hope of Hobbs.
