Services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Monday, May 22, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints for Jose Adrian Reyes Martinez of Artesia.

Martinez, 91, passed away Tuesday, May 16, 2017, at his home with his family by his side.

Bishop Scott Webster will officiate at the services, with interment to follow at Woodbine Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Dylon Fierro, Victor F. Madrid, Victor N. Madrid, Miguel Martinez Jr., Selenhongva McDonald and Daniel Rodriguez Jr. Honorary pallbearers are his sons.

Visitation will be held from 2-5 p.m. today at Terpening & Son Mortuary.

Adrian was born Dec. 30, 1925, in Penon Blanco, Durango, Mexico, to Adrian and Luciana (Reyes) Martinez. He was a longtime Artesia resident after moving here in 1946 from Mexico.

In January 1975, he married Mary Fuentes in Las Cruces.

Adrian worked as a farm laborer until his retirement at the age of 82. He was a member of the Artesia Ward of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He enjoyed gardening and welding, and loved spending time with his family.

Survivors include his wife, Mary, of the family home; sons Adrian Martinez Jr., Herman Martinez and Teri Jimenez, Miguel Martinez and wife Shelly, and Roger Martinez, all of Artesia; grandchildren Kyla Fierro, Kali Martinez, Miguel Martinez Jr., Kara Martinez, Joseph, Michael, Bryan, Cassandra, Miranda, Michelle and Jasmine; and 13 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Miguel Martinez Reyes and Rafael Martinez Reyes; and sisters Macrina Nava, Esparanza Martinez Reyes, Enriqueta Nava, Maria Martinez Reyes and Guadalupe Castro.
