for an outstanding 259 game and a place in the title match. Both Bulldog bowlers started slow and ended strong with Davis rolling 7 consecutive strikes to win the title over Velo, 230-213. Velo’s second place finish secured him a $ 500.00 scholarship.
In division two, Ybarra and Quinn Tilton made match play with Ybarra rolling 185, 183 and 179 and Tilton games of 195, 169 and 163. Match play saw Ybarra win his first three matches, including a 204 game that secured a spot in the title match. Tilton completed her tournament with a sixth-place finish and a $200 scholarship.
In the division two title match Ybarra threw strikes in the eighth, ninth and tenth frame to win the championship and his $ 600 scholarship.
The day saw the Artesia Bulldog bowling team have their best ever season ending tournament and bring home $2,225 in scholarship money.
“To say they put on a show does not even describe the performance of our team,” said coach Ken Clayton. “I always tell them that hard work pays off and today that turned into a literal statement.
“Over $2,000 to help in their continued education is priceless.”
