The noon rush came to a halt for a time Wednesday at Seventh and Main streets due to a four-vehicle accident. According to Cmdr. Pete Quinones of the Artesia Police Department, three vehicles travelling east on Main came to a proper stop at the traffic light, but a fourth failed to stop in time, striking the back of the third vehicle and knocking it into the second and first vehicles. The first vehicle sustained slight rear-bumper damage, the second minor damage to its front and rear bumpers, and the third moderate damage to the front of the vehicle and minor damage to the rear. The fourth vehicle’s airbags deployed upon impact, and minor to moderate damage was sustained. The Artesia High School student driving the fourth vehicle was cited for following too closely.
