Sofia Espinoza, left, and Lillian Yates Chumbley make their own newspapers as part of “I Can Be,” a career exploration event conducted Thursday by the Girl Scouts of the Desert Southwest. Girls in grades K-5 learned what it takes to be a police officer, a phlebotomist, a newspaper reporter, an art teacher, an occupational therapist, a veterinary assistant, a braillist, and a diagnostician.
