Services are scheduled for 9:30 a.m. Saturday, June 4, at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church for Lucy Juarez Rascon of Artesia.

Rascon, 87, passed away May 30, 2016.

Fr. Martin Cornejo will officiate at the services, with interment to follow at Twin Oaks Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Roberto Rascon, Lucciano Molina, Chris Molina, Christopher Garcia, John Abel Rascon and Gabriel Gamboa.

A rosary will be recited at 6:30 p.m. Friday at Our Lady of Grace.

Lucy was born May 26, 1929, in Artesia, the daughter of Rafael and Paula (Chavez) Juarez.

On Dec. 18, 1950, she married Abel G. Rascon in Carlsbad.

She was a supervisor for the New Mexico Child Support Enforcement Division and also worked at Marsh’s clothing store. She was a member of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, loved to read and take photographs, and enjoyed family gatherings.

Survivors include sons Abel Rascon Jr. or San Angelo, Texas, and Steven Rae Rascon of Artesia; daughters Paula Joy Gamboa of Las Cruces and Rene Molina and husband Daniel of Artesia; brothers Bricky Juarez and wife Cata, and Daniel Juarez and wife Estella, both of Artesia; sister Virginia French of El Paso, Texas; 13 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Abel Rascon, on Dec. 17, 1978; her parents; brothers, Raul Juarez and Cruz Juarez; sisters Rachel Analla, Mary Utterback and Linda Barrera; daughter-in-law Odelia Rascon; and granddaughter Priscilla Rascon.
