Artesia High School graduating senior Justin Houghtaling accepts the Mr. Bulldog award from Artesia Public Schools athletic director Cooper Henderson. The annual award is given to the top athlete participating in three sports throughout the duration of their AHS career. Houghtaling was quarterback of the 2014 and 2015 Class 5A state champion Bulldog football teams, a member of the Runnin’ ‘Dog basketball team, and this year’s 5A state runner-up in javelin as part of the Bulldog track and field team. A Miss Bulldog award was not presented this year, as no Lady Bulldog athletes met the requirements.
