An investigation began Monday into the murder of a 76-year-old man whose body was found inside his northeast Roswell home in the 100 block of North Wind Loop.

Police and medical crews responded to the home Monday and found Jim L. Gentry deceased. Investigators determined Gentry was the victim of a homicide.

A friend of Gentry’s called police about 11:45 a.m. to report finding Gentry unresponsive in the home. The friend, who had access to the house, told police he went to check on Gentry after he could not reach him by phone in the last few days. Rowell Police Department investigators were executing a search warrant on the house Monday afternoon as part of standard procedure in the ongoing homicide investigation.

No suspects have been identified in the case as of yet. Anyone with potential information regarding the case is asked to call the RPD at 624-6770 or Chaves County Crime Stoppers at 1-888-594-TIPS (8477).
