ARTESIA — The Artesia Historical Museum and Art Center Foundation’s Russell Floore Memorial Art Show is up and running once again, this year with a youthful twist.The foundation announced that it has partnered with Artesia (Zia) Intermediate School art teacher Juli Thurman and Artesia High School art teacher Tim Trentham to present a selection of art created by Artesia’s students, on display in the Art Annex gallery now through Jan. 29.

Russell Floore (1917-1991) was a life-long resident of Artesia. He owned and operated the Floore Floral Shop here for 30 years and was an enthusiastic art collector.

Upon Floore’s death, his family created an endowment with the Artesia Historical Museum and Art Center Foundation to develop and sponsor an annual southwestern art show to continue Floore’s tradition of encouraging and supporting all southwestern artists. … For the rest of the story, subscribe in print and on the web.
