Services are scheduled for 9:30 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 13, at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church for Socorro Alvarado Lara of Roswell.

Lara, 68, passed away Sunday, Aug. 9, 2015, at Eastern New Mexico Medical Center in Roswell.

Fr. Martin Cornejo will officiate at the services, with interment to follow at Woodbine Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Joe Gonzales, Emilio Lara, Javier Barraza, Ronnie Salazar, Steve Rodriguez and Zachary Lara.

A rosary will be recited at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at Our Lady of Grace.

Lara was born Jan. 28, 1947, in Marfa, Texas, the daughter of Manuel Alvarado and Josephine (Olivas) Alvarado.

She was a longtime resident of Artesia and Roswell.

In 1964, she married Tony Lara Jr. in Artesia.

She was a housekeeper, a member of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, and enjoyed gardening.

Survivors include sons Anthony Lara of Artesia and Rodney Lara of Roswell; daughter Annette Meeks of Roswell; sisters Alice Brizeno and Mary Ann Olivas, both of Artesia; 19 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Tony Lara Jr., on April 8, 1995; her parents; one brother; two sons; and two daughters.
