Services are scheduled for 11:30 a.m. Friday, July 28, at the Black Hills National Cemetery near Sturgis, S.D., for Thomas “Red” Hall.

Hall, 68, passed away Tuesday, July 18, 2017, at the Golden Living Center in Hopkins, Minn.

He was born Aug. 21, 1948, in Artesia to Henry Hall and Thelma Slater. He graduated from Artesia High School in May 1966 and from there moved to Seattle, Wash., where he worked for Boeing Aircraft Corporation as a structural repairman until August 1969.

Tom enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in May 1973 and completed basic training at Lackland Air Force Base, Texas. From there, he served at Osan Air Base, Korea, Bergstrom AFB, Texas, Wheeler AFB, Hawaii, and Ellsworth AFB, S.D.

Tom was a NCO Academy and NCO Leadership School graduate. During his career, he earned numerous awards, including the Meritorious Service Medal, Joint Service Commendation Medal, Commendation Medal, Achievement Medal, Outstanding Unit Award, Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Medal, South West Asia Service Medal, Overseas Short, Overseas Long, Longevity Service Award, NCO Professional Military Education, Small Arms Expert, and Basic Military Training Medal.

He retired from the military in November 1993.

Tom then decided retirement was not for him, as he was never one to sit still for long. He went to work for the Rapid City School System as a custodian.

He had a love for all sports, racing, dancing, his family, and anything else that would keep his hands busy.

Tom moved to Eden Prairie, Minn., in August 2015, where he spent his remaining years.

Survivors include daughters Jennifer Hall and Todd Bracher of Minnesota, and Terresah Hall of South Dakota; grandchildren Nicolette Theriault and husband Chance of Minnesota, Jeremy Garrigan of Minnesota, Kyle Garrigan of South Dakota, and Tanner Bracher of Minnesota; great-grandchildren Aurora and Sebastian Theriault of Minnesota; brothers Richard “Guy” Evans and wife Verna of California and Tony Hall and wife Loretta of Artesia; and brother-in-law Richard Humphreys of Texas.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother David Jerry Hall.
