Graveside services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Thursday, March 23, at Twin Oaks Memorial Park for Virginia Lee Peyton of Artesia.

Peyton, 86, passed away Monday, March 20, 2017, at Artesia General Hospital.

Tim Singleton will officiate at the services. Pallbearers will be all of her grandsons.
Visitation will be held until 7 p.m. today at Terpening & Son Mortuary.

Virginia was born Oct. 24, 1930, in Galatia, Ill., the daughter of Clyde and Grace (Dooley) Rice.

On Oct. 7, 1948, she married Billy Peyton in Henderson, Ky., and the couple came to Artesia in 1958 from Harrisburg, Ill.

Virginia was a housewife who enjoyed quilting, sewing, cooking and gardening.

Survivors include sons Kenneth Peyton and wife Margaret, and Lonnie Peyton and wife Diane, both of Artesia; daughters Brenda Montgomery and husband Tommy, and Beth Dowell and husband Stephen, both of Artesia; 11 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Billy; son Randy Peyton; and granddaughter Callie Callaway.
