Oil and gas industry supporting community via non-profits

New Mexico students can win a backpack filled with electronics, school supplies and other prizes via the New Mexico Oil and Gas Association (NMOGA)’s annual Ultimate Backpack Giveaway contest. This year, five winners will receive a backpack with an iPad, AirPods, a keyboard, school supplies and free pizza party, read a NMOGA news release.

Trial delayed for Alexee Trevizo accused of killing newborn at hospital

The trial of Alexee Trevizo, accused of smothering her baby in a trash can after giving birth in a hospital emergency room, has been delayed as the prosecution and defense debate the inclusion of crucial evidence before the New Mexico Supreme Court. Police said Trevizo, 20, gave birth to the child in a bathroom at the Artesia General Hospital in January 2023 and put him in a nearby trash can where he died of suffocation.

Schlotzsky’s Breaks Ground

A groundbreaking for Schlotzsky’s in Artesia was recently held. Construction on the building is moving along smoothly and they are scheduled to have a soft opening mid-to late September, assuming everything goes as planned. Schlotzsky’s is in the hiring process now, so keep an eye out for job postings!

FOOTBALL RESERVED SEATS sales will begin on Monday, August 5, 2024, and will continue through Friday, August 16, 2024. Tickets may be purchased at the Bulldog Pit from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. Please enter through the West doors. Only reserve seat holders from the previous year will be allowed to purchase their same reserve seats the first two weeks of sales. Beginning on Monday, August 19th, all remaining reserve seat tickets will go on sale to the general public on a first-come-first-served basis. There will be four home games this year.

Golden Brothers sweep steer show at the 79th Annual Eddy County Fair. Anessa said “Caden’s last year in the county fair was hard to think about all week and accepting it was even harder.Winning the steer show is one thing but having brothers go grand and reserve is nothing less than amazing and a blessing.
