Memorial services are scheduled for 1:30 p.m. Friday, Jan. 8, at Bethel Baptist Church for Annie C. Hemphill of Artesia.

Hemphill, 100, passed away Friday, Jan. 1, 2016, at Artesia General Hospital.

Rev. Thomas Ford will officiate at the services. Cremation has taken place under the direction of Terpening & Son Mortuary.

Annie was born July 20, 1915, in Eagle Lake, Texas, the daughter of Olan and Ada (Johnson) Carter. She was a longtime Artesia resident.

She was a housekeeper and a member of Bethel Baptist Church. She was a hard worker and loved to spend time with her family.

Survivors include granddaughter Mary Lee Stoker Payne of Ft. Worth, Texas; nephew Freddie Kimble of Artesia; and numerous great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her children; one brother; and three sisters.
