Memorial services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Friday, Jan. 8, at Faith Baptist Church for Carl Leon Dodd of Artesia.
Dodd, 81, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 30, 2015, at his home.
Michael Elliott will officiate at the services. Interment has taken place at Woodbine Cemetery.
Carl was born Oct. 8, 1934, in Melrose, the son of Ottis and Artie Dodd.
On March 13, 1974, he married Vella Hartsfield in Clovis, and the couple came to Artesia in 1997 from Albuquerque.
Carl worked as a farmer, then a boilerman for Presbyterian Hospital in Albuquerque, and finally a greeter at Wal-Mart in Artesia. He was a member of Faith Baptist Church, the Senior Center, and played his guitar and sang at the MealSite every week. He was also a volunteer firefighter in Melrose.
Survivors include son Scott Dodd and wife Sandra of Albuquerque; daughters Darla Dodd of Albuquerque and Tammy Williams of the family home; six grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Vella Dodd, on Nov. 19, 2012; his parents; and a daughter, Becky Lynn Finney.
