The Artesia FFA chapter is going to the National FFA Convention this week to compete and experience the leadership opportunities the event has to offer.
Each member who goes has won a state contest, as that is the chapter criteria. Those going are Ty Mitchell, Kellan Bennett and Kyler Bowerman to compete in the Agricultural Issues contest; Chance Mitchell competing in the Speech contest; Gracelyn Casey competing in the Creed contest; and Ty Mitchell, Madison Hathorn, Madison Callaway, Alexis Benton, Alexandria Thompson, Kristin Bruton and Emma Casey competing in Greenhand Parliamentary Procedure.
Other members attending will be Maegan Lemon, a member of the statewinning Farm Business Management team, Teagan Archer, a member of the statewinning Wool Judging team, and Hannah Vega, a member of the statewinning Opening Ceremonies team.
Ag teacher Monte Avery will be receiving his honorary American FFA degree during a ceremony Friday, Oct. 21. Be sure to watch RFDTV to keep up with all the events and proceedings during the week.
