Vehicles splash around the corner at First Street and Quay Avenue early this afternoon amidst rain showers that continued throughout the morning in the Artesia area. Catching the tail end of monsoon season, Artesia has posted good precipitation totals for August, with numbers as of Monday listed at 3.17 inches by the New Mexico State University Ag Science Center. The wet weather is expected to continue, with “numerous” showers and thunderstorms forecast for this evening and a 50percent chance of more Wednesday and Thursday.
