The Artesia General Hospital Auxiliary held a meeting at the hospital this morning to discuss funding for their annual scholarship and improving their presence within the hospital by increasing auxiliary membership.
After discussing their budget, the board had a balance of $4,685.11 and unanimously voted to, once again, provide two scholarships to Artesia High School graduates entering the medical field. The scholarships will be provided at $500 per semester for two semesters.
The Auxiliary also discussed its need to increase membership in order to improve their presence and offer more services to the hospital and the patients it serves.
“I can remember in years past how much influence they (the Auxiliary) had and what a big part of the hospital they once were,” commented auxiliary member Joe Schiel. “Numbers is what we need.
