Preseason workouts looked to have paid off for the 2017 Bulldog football team Thursday at Bulldog Bowl, as the ‘Dogs were solid overall in their annual intermural scrimmage against Las Cruces Onate. The first-string offense scored to cap each of its three possessions, opening the bout with a short touchdown pass in the red zone, followed by a 10-yard run and a long pass over the Knight defense to end the scrimmage on a high note. The first-string defense, meanwhile, was dominant, not only holding Onate scoreless but forcing several turnovers, as well, one of which was returned for a score. With the second-string offense adding a TD on a long pass of their own and the No. 2 defense also thwarting the Knights at every turn, the ‘Dogs ultimately took the scrimmage, 5-0.
