Memorial services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Wednesday, June 1, at Anderson Bethany Funeral Home in Roswell for Charles Robert “Bob” Ray of Roswell.

Ray, 90, passed away May 29, 2016, in Roswell.

He was born April 15, 1926, in Victor, Colo., to Eugene and Mary Ada (Trent) Ray.

Being a very patriotic person, Bob served in the Navy as part of a troop carrier on the USS Clip Fontaine in World War II. He then became a painter, spending more than 30 years working with the potash mines.

Bob was also a baseball coach and Boy Scout leader, and participated in soapbox derby races. He was a very proud lifelong member of the Elks Club.

When he finally retired, Bob was still on the go, spending many hours travelling and taking relaxing cruises. Dancing was one of his many joys in life, and he could never turn down a good party. Bob had beautiful, piercing blue eyes and a great sense of humor. He was a good man who will be loved and missed by all.

Bob married Myrl in 1982 and spent 34 loving years with her.

Myrl Ray survives her husband, along with sons Riley Ray and wife Charlie of Hot Springs Village, Ark., Larry Ray of Artesia, and Randy Ray and wife Shay of San Antonio, Texas; stepsons R.E. Peterson and wife Leslie of Tulsa, Okla., and Benny Peterson and wife Carol of Austin, Texas; stepdaughter Prenetta Nolan and husband Butch of Logan; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers Ralph and Donald Ray.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to a charity of choice.

Arrangements are under the direction of Anderson Bethany Funeral Home. Condolences may be expressed online at andersonbethany.com.
