City faces big price tag for graffiti

Every month, the Artesia Police Department presents a list of compiled crime statistics to the City Council. This month’s numbers, however, were a cause for alarm for the mayor and councilors alike.
There were 55 incidents of graffiti in Artesia between March and early April and a total of 154 reported incidents since January. By comparison, the City of Carlsbad has had between 50 and 70 reported graffiti incidents since the beginning of the year, and Roswell has had a total of seven. … For the rest of the story, subscribe in print and on the web.
