A controlled burn is conducted Tuesday afternoon in a field near Haldeman Road and Hermosa Drive. Many Artesians noted the tall plumes of smoke, visible from miles away, but the Eddy County Regional Dispatch Authority assures the fire was, in fact, prescribed.
