A memorial rosary and mass are scheduled for 9:30 and 10 a.m. Monday, Oct. 2, at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church for Damian A. Herrera of Artesia.

Herrera, 19, passed away Monday, Sept. 25, 2017, in Artesia.

Fr. Frances Lazer will officiate the services. Cremation has taken place under the direction of Terpening & Son Mortuary.

Damian was born Aug. 25, 1998, in Carlsbad to Benjamin and Rachel (Valencia) Herrera. He was a lifelong Artesia resident.

He worked as a warehouse associate and was of the Catholic faith. Damian enjoyed computers, graphic designing and music production, and loved to fish and spend time with his family.

Survivors include his parents, Benjamin and Rachel Herrera, of the family home; sister Martika Herrera of Artesia; girlfriend Mikayla Lasiter of Dexter; an unborn child; grandparents Clorinda and Anselmo Aragon, and Lupe and Anselmo Herrera, all of Artesia; great-grandmother Maria Hernandez of Artesia; aunts Maria Valencia of Reno, Nev., and Ramona Williams and husband Antwone, and Lori Sarabia and husband Michael, both of Artesia; uncles Anselmo “Moe” Herrera Jr. and wife Dina of Odessa, Texas, and Steve Herrera and wife Isela of Midland, Texas; numerous great-aunts, great-uncles, cousins and friends; and fur baby sister Tatiana.
