Services are scheduled for 9:30 a.m. Monday, Aug. 6, at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church for Elena “Helen” Martinez Berdoza of Roswell.

Berdoza, 62, passed away Tuesday, July 31, 2018, at Eastern New Mexico Medical Center in Roswell.

Fr. VJ will officiate the services, with interment to follow at Woodbine Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Carlos Jacob Martinez, Jesse Armendariz Jr., Estevan Martinez, Jaime Gonzales, Hector DeHoyos, Timothy Martinez and Guillermo Martinez.

Visitation will begin at 2 p.m. today at Our Lady of Grace. A rosary will be recited at 6:30 p.m. today at the church.

Helen was born Oct. 31, 1955, in Artesia to Gil and Leonilda (Gonzales) Martinez. She was a lifelong Artesia resident until moving to Roswell in 2016.

She was a member of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church and worked as a CNA for home health care. Helen enjoyed cooking and loved spending time with her family.

Survivors include her father, Gil Martinez Sr. of Artesia; daughter Stephanie Cabral and husband Fernando of Albuquerque; sons Alex Berdoza of Artesia and Jenio Berdoza of Roswell; sister Linda DeHoyos and husband Hector of Artesia; brothers Gil Martinez Jr. and wife Mary, and Steve Martinez and wife Pat, both of Artesia, Alberto Martinez and wife Sonia of Carlsbad, Ruben Martinez of Florida, Anthony Martinez and wife Josie of El Paso, Texas, and Carlos Martinez of Roswell; 12 grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her mother.
