ARTESIA — Supporting the communities in which we live and work is more important than ever as the country and our local community grapples with the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. HollyFrontier Navajo is proud to offer a drive-thru food pantry for local community members from 10 a.m. – noon Friday, April 24. In addition, the refinery has committed to partnering with Artesia General Hospital to cover the utility expenses of short-term living quarters for hospital staff, should the need arise.
As part of the drive-thru food pantry, Navajo Refining has partnered with Fenn’s Country Market to purchase the items, which will be safely packaged into care kits for the community. In addition to opening the event to the community, the refinery is also working with the Artesia Public Schools and Packs of Love to make sure families most in need have food on the table during this time. The refinery has a long-standing relationship with both organizations. Packs of Love, the Artesia Chamber of Commerce, the Artesia Police Department, B&R Trucking, Sunbelt Rentals and Royal Services are also providing goods or services to make the event possible.
Drive-thru Food Pantry Details 10 a.m. – noon Friday, April 24, at Bulldog Bowl for the general public Drivers should:
• Enter from Grand Avenue on the south side of the Bowl and follow the signs • Stay in their cars • Open their trunks or hatches and volunteers will load the kit • Proceed to marked exit Navajo has also been working with Artesia General to help offset the cost of temporarily converting Westside Church of Christ into a hospital staff area so staff can sleep, eat and shower without going home to family members who may be high risk. The refinery has committed to covering the cost of utilities, if the temporary facility is needed. This contribution would help support the ongoing efforts of Artesia General and its staff to continue to provide care and treatment to the community during the COVID-19 pandemic.
