Officers with the Artesia Police Department responded to numerous reports of shots fired Thursday evening in a single area but found no physical evidence of the incident.

The APD was called seven times between 9:55 and 10:02 p.m. to the area around Seventh Street and Cleveland, Logan, James and Lolita avenues in reference to shots fired.

“Each caller reported between four and seven shots in an area that seemed to focus just south of Guadalupe Park,” said APD Cmdr. Lindell Smith.

According to Smith, no physical evidence was located, and no deaths, injuries or property damage were reported as a result of the incident.

Smith said officers were on scene investigating for nearly an hour.
